MAY 08 NEWSLETTER
As many of you know, I have launched the Chrysalis Professional Make up Brush Line . We have had great success and the accolades from the press and celebrities has been exactly what I have expected, based upon the quality of the brushes, and the overall look that we achieved.
As I am now on hiatus from the Super Nanny show till August, I will be doing some photo shoots as well as catching up on some much needed rest. We just wrapped Jo's book tour, her new book came out in May. I'm excited that, we have been picked up for a fifth season, but I must concentrate on the brush line as well as my life, the schedule is hectic on the road, So I will be making appearances to our stores as well as opening many more.
I will be posting, my appearances here, on this site, as I will be visiting several of our stores to do demonstrations on how to use each brush, so keep checking back the list will be updated as I am able to book events based on my travel schedule.
I did have the pleasure, of working with Jamie Oliver the "Naked Chef" for Oprah's Big Give, in February and we had a great time, what an amazing guy, and not so hard on the eyes either. LOL
Also a little teaser, I'm speaking to some business people about launching my professional secrets make-up line. This time, nothing help back, as I'm going to have the proper amount of help. So stay tuned and you won't be disappointed .
I love the questions that you all have been sending in, and as promised I will answer all.
Dear Timothy:
I read you book, and loved all of the tips, but I'm still confused because the bronzer is making myface look to dark, am I doing something wrong?

Hello Lisa from Detroit
Thanks for the kind words on my book I'm happy it has been helping to take some of the confusion away from your beauty routine. The first thing you should do is be sure that your foundation is the correct shade, once you have decided that it is, you must powder the base to set it, this will keep the foundation from getting darker, when you add the bronzer. If you have a bronzer that you love, softly apply it where the sun would naturally hit, like the cheek bones the nose softly and don't forget the temple areas, this adds a soft glow and warmth to the entire face. Keep the bronzer away from the area above the jawline and under the cheek, let this place stay clean as it will be much prittier Let me know how well this works, I'm sure it going to be a winner, I think your just using to much bronzer, a little goes a long way.
Very Sincerely
Tim Alan

Quarterly Newsletter December 2007
Happy Holidays
Well, it’s been quite awhile since we last spoke, it has been a whirl wind year and a half, anybody that believes the Super nanny, is just a simple show is mis informed. I’ve been on the road with Jo Frost for over two seasons now across the USA as well as the UK and Canada ( we shot all of her interiors and cover, in London for her new baby book called “Jo Frost’s Confident baby care” and also her Kellogg’s breakfast cereal boxes and advertising campaign. It was great fun!
Well as you can see by the opening of this webpage, the Make up brush line”Chrysalis beauty” that I have been working on for the past two years is finally here. I never thought the day would arrive, but alas here it is.
The end result is amazing not only exactly what I ordered and designed but the quality control is unsurpassed, by any company on the market today, these are the brushes that I would be proud to give as a gift or better yet, pass on to another make up artist. The response has been amazing as you can see by the press that we have been getting.
I will also be putting up podcasts here, mini video lessons, of several of my beauty tips and tricks of the trade, so keep checking for them. There will also be tips for using the new Chrysalis brushes, I’m so excited.
Since I last left you, I have had the pleasure of working on “Dancing with The Stars”. I did the media tour with Drew Lachey and his fabulous dance partner Cheryl Burke. I was able to work on one of my favorite funny ladies Jane Curtin, A real class act. The beauty column that I write for Soaps In Depth has been a real pleasure I just wish I had the schedule to put it out more often, currently approx. quarterly. The November issue of “Soaps In Depth” is the most recent and yes it’s all about the “Tools of the Trade” some of you might remember this from my first book “Two Faced” confessions of a soap opera make up artist. Just for the record I still believe the right tool for the right job.
I am also starting to work on my newest book, I’ll tell you more as soon as all of the contracts are signed and I have gotten into the thick of it.
On a very sad note, a very sweet soul was lost the other day Anita Roddick, founder of the “Body Shop” stores and more importantly a friend and client Passed. It always hurts when such an Icon passes, she was always fighting the good fight, and her and I always had the most amazing talks while in the car to her next PR event or signings. Anita my dear sweet friend, you will be sorely missed and the world will feel the loss, what an impact you made in so many lives, I just hope that your amazing work carries on. PS...I never got to Scotland for that vacation, at your castle. That my friend, is my loss... There is one more loss to report, my grand mother Johanna, passed in October, lucky for me I was with Jo, (the Super nanny) filming in Florida, and was able to have a few amazing days with her, before she left us. Tears come easily when I think of the pain, but she had a long and dedicated life. My memories of her strength, and independence will be the most noble way for me to honor her memory, there by giving me a positive path, as she always did in life. “Granny, you are missed and loved”. Jae Woo friend and factory owner who helped get me started passed this November, he will be missed, he was also an excellent source of information and made the trips to China a fun adventure.
I was so pleased to receive, so many questions, regarding your personal beauty issues, and as I stated it would be my pleasure to answer all.
1) What do you do to ensure that your foundation stays on all day and remains perfect?
Mary Fitamant, Toms River NJ
A) Well, Mary, the 1st thing to do is to ensure that you are using the correct base for your skin type and have a primer on, this ensures a proper application and creates a barrier that is essential especially on oily skin ( it helps keep the oil away from the surface) on a drier skin it smooths out the surface and allows the base to float, not looking so dry. Also keep in mind the correct skin care regime will work wonders to ensure an amazing foundation experience.
2) I really want to wear red lipstick, but I’m afraid of looking cheap or worse yet, like I’m trying to act my daughters age......HELP PLEASE?
Connie V. Portland, OR
A) Well this is a conundrum, which is worse looking cheap or have the red lipstick wear you, if you know what I mean. As I have always said “If it doesn’t fit into your real world, then what’s the point?” If you really love red lips here are a few tips to ensure a lip smacking good time that will keep your significant other coming back for more .
First of all take a lip liner in a deep shade....not a real bright red but maybe a mauve or
maybe a deep natural line the lips and fill in the entire lip with the pencil softly, then take a
red lip gloss and softly apply it to the entire lip this is a good introduction to wearing red
lips. Also, just a note in all my years of doing professional make up I have only used red
lips on a model or actress approx. 15 or 20 times. Keep this in mind, if you do go there
tread lightly, and proceed with caution.... but remember “You and you alone, truly own ‘
your beauty.”
Peace
Tim xx
